Meeker County Release Records

Meeker County Release Types

A transfer must not be called a release to the community. If the Meeker record names DOC, another county, a federal authority, or ICE, continue with that system. The same rule applies when a federal writ moves someone for court while the prior custody remains in force.
Note: A transfer ends Meeker physical custody without proving community release; follow the named agency until the later status is clear.

Some data may be redacted or withheld under juvenile, privacy, active-investigation, security, sealing, or other rules. A denial of one field does not necessarily close the full record. Ask for all separable public data and the Minnesota statutory basis for each part withheld.
Request Meeker County Release Records
The Meeker County Data Practices Policy says no form is required for ordinary public data and no purpose need be given. Inspection is free. Paper and fax copies are generally 25 cents per page, with postage added, while other media or extensive compilation may have lawful costs. Fees are collected before release.

Meeker County Release Data Law
Minnesota uses the Government Data Practices Act, not the federal Freedom of Information Act, for county records. Chapter 13 presumes government data public unless another provision classifies it otherwise. Section 13.82 governs law-enforcement data and defines public and protected categories. Public classification does not mean every record must stay posted online forever.
A court expungement asks a judge to seal records. A data correction addresses whether county data is accurate, complete, and current. Neither process should be inferred from a missing web result. The court order, county response, and specific statute control.

When Meeker County Releases Begin
Meeker County publishes a rare local timing detail. The Inmate Release Times policy says sentenced inmates are released after 8:00 a.m. on the release date and may be picked up at the jail entrance. The exact time depends on jail operations. “After 8:00” is a processing threshold, not an appointment, and a person should not be expected outside at the first minute after that threshold.

Meeker County Pay-for-Stay Release
The county's Pay-for-Stay policy authorizes a $25 daily charge for qualifying convicted people confined in the Meeker County Jail and says payment arrangements are made before release. The source does not say that a balance can extend custody past the lawful release date. The fee and release authority are separate issues.

Note: The pay-for-stay source does not authorize holding someone beyond the lawful release time merely because a balance remains.
Find Meeker County Released Inmates
Begin with the last known custodian. A recent Meeker arrest starts with the printed date on the Internet Daily Jail Roster. Presence means the person was listed in current custody at that snapshot. Absence means only that the person is not on that snapshot. Minnesota VINE may show a custody event, and the district-court file can explain an order, but the Sheriff release entry confirms the actual end of Meeker custody.

- If absent, check Minnesota VINE for custody status or a reported change.

MN DOC Meeker Release Search
The MN DOC Public Viewer covers people committed to the Commissioner who remain under DOC jurisdiction, including people in prison and those released from prison but still supervised. It is not a search for a Meeker County jail-only booking. A fully discharged person may fall outside the viewer's stated scope, so DOC records and the court file become the historical fallback.

The MCRO rules impose a key pending-case limit: those criminal matters cannot be found by defendant name. Use the case number, citation number, attorney name, or attorney bar number, or use courthouse access. A no-result name search does not prove there is no Meeker case.

Correcting Meeker County Release Data
A data subject may use the county Data Practices Policy to contest information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or no longer current. The responsible authority has 30 days to correct the data and try to notify prior recipients, or to state that the county believes the data is correct. If the dispute remains, later disclosures must include the subject's statement of disagreement, with an appeal route to the Commissioner of Administration.
This is not expungement. Correction tests the accuracy of county-held data. Expungement asks a court to seal records under the governing law. A released person should choose the process that fits the problem instead of treating deletion from the current roster as either remedy.

Meeker Release Supervision Programs
Meeker County Probation supervises misdemeanor, gross-misdemeanor, felony, juvenile, and supervised-release clients. The local page also identifies Eighth Judicial District Treatment Court and Sentence to Service. Those are navigation points for people directed there by a court or supervising office, not proof that any named released person takes part.
Verify county probation first through the court file. For ongoing DOC jurisdiction, read the Public Viewer status and supervising location. The office does not promise an open directory of clients, so ask for process and routing information unless staff says case-specific data may be disclosed.
Meeker Work Release Is Custody
Huber work release is easy to misread because it includes the word “release.” The Meeker Huber program permits approved community movement during a jail sentence, but the person remains committed to the jail and must return. Advance paperwork and eligibility steps apply. Being outside for approved work is not final discharge.

Meeker Release Notifications and Transfers
Meeker County Jail participates in Minnesota VINE for custody status and release or transfer alerts. VINE is free, but the county warns against relying on it alone. County-jail VINE is not the state prison system. Minnesota Haven through DOC Victim Assistance handles DOC prison notifications.
A federal sentence is checked through the BOP Inmate Locator. A “Released” result and date describe BOP custody, not where the person went or whether supervision or another hold followed. ICE's locator addresses immigration detention and may include some people released from ICE custody within the prior 60 days. If ICE assumes custody at the Meeker jail door, that is a transfer from Meeker custody, not community release.

A current-custody result and a historical release record should never be treated as interchangeable. Use the live system to establish present status within its scope, then preserve the release entry or discharge record when the question is how an earlier custody episode ended.
Meeker County Release Facility
The Meeker County Jail is the only local detention facility identified in the county's official site sweep. It is operated by the Sheriff's Office in the Justice Center. A person may return to the community or move to probation, DOC, another jail, federal custody, or another authority. The release entry determines which path occurred.

No separate state prison, federal prison, municipal holding facility, regional jail, or ICE detention center was identified in Meeker County. That bounded finding does not rule out a temporary hold or transfer. It means external systems should be used only when a record ties the person to them.
